About our centre
Welcome to Kumon Midstream, where we nurture confident, independent learners through the proven Kumon Method. Located in Midstream College, our centre provides personalized math and reading programmes designed for children of all ages and abilities — from preschoolers building early foundations to high school students mastering advanced concepts. This Centre offers two English Programmes to our customers. One English programme is directed towards students whose home language is English, while the additional English programme is tailored specifically for students whose home language is not English. This programme introduces the English language to your child using carefully designed worksheets and audio activities, together with guidance by the Centre team. Through this programme your child will master the 4 essential language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening), developing confidence and success in a bilingual world.
The centre’s staff are calm and friendly, students will feel welcome the moment they enter the centre. The class is filled with individual tables where we can give each student individual support. We offer a space for students to learn while feeling confident and motivated. It offers secure parking as well as a waiting area for parents.
Our centre is more than just a classroom — it’s a community dedicated to your child’s success. With small-group sessions, regular progress reports, and close communication with parents, we work as partners in your child’s educational journey.

About your Instructor
Hi, my name’s Cecile, the Instructor at Kumon Midstream.
I’m an extrovert-introvert who loves spending time with people, going to markets and hanging out with my family.
I am a teacher who finds joy in the "aha!" moments of my students. I have a BSc degree as well as a PGCE. I have been teaching students from different ages for the past 9 years. At the heart of my approach is the belief that every child can succeed when given the right tools and guidance. I follow Kumon’s individualized learning method closely:
Each student works at their own perfect pace — never too fast, never too slow.
I provide gentle, targeted support while encouraging independent problem-solving.
Progress is carefully tracked with regular feedback to both students and parents.
I celebrate every milestone to keep motivation high.
I believe that each student is unique and that everyone has different abilities therefore I am here to help every student develop and learn in a way that makes them feel comfortable. I want my students to be confident and curious when they are learning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
